Yield

Exhibited in ARTT Grad Show 2026 | 31.5—7.6
The Lab, East Kowloon Cultural Centre

Yield is a speculative design work that satirises the parenting culture of modern society. As more parents begin to treat child-rearing as a task to be managed and optimised, rather than a journey of genuine companionship and shared experience, the line between efficiency and intimacy grows increasingly blurred.
The work imagines an extreme version of this reality, repackaging the so-called "inefficiencies" of parenting into sellable products marketed directly to parents. Through an advertising video and an interactive virtual nanny, the audience is drawn into a world that feels both absurd and unsettlingly familiar.

Because this is not a vision of the future. It is already happening now.

Ctrl+F “ ” is more than just a command for “Finding”, it also helps us retrace and confirm our direction. It mirrors the continual searching and exploration that shapes both our personal and creative lives. As the first
cohort of graduates from the Arts and Technology major at Hong Kong Baptist University, we have learned to shape our paths through exploration, building experience as we move through uncertainty. The thematic openness of this exhibition allows for a multiplicity of interpretations, inviting viewers to insert their own keywords and associations. Much like the journey through life, our goals are not always clear and answers are rarely definitive. Yet, through repeated searching and adjustment, new methods and rhythms come gradually. We invite you to join our discovery
for motivation and possibilities that come with the process of finding.

In today’s fast-paced society,
life’s relentless tempo leaves us drained.
We retreat to the toilet, or restroom, seeking only that brief moment to breathe. In this ordinary, familiar yet confined space, we somehow manage to release stress and truly express ourselves without inhibition. Does this restroom break propel us forward, or mirror our already depleted selves?

“Ho Lol Co.” is a projection mapping project set at Tai Kwun, Hong Kong’s historic cultural landmark. The name, written as 好地道, refers both to a street (as in the animation’s first scene, modeled after a street sign), and phonetically hints at “very local,” with a playful nod to “LOL” and “Co.” as our team/company.
The project transforms Tai Kwun’s brick façade into a vibrant canvas inspired by retro pixel art games. Drawing from Hong Kong’s classic Cha Chaan Teng cafés, the animation depicts a typical day—from morning rush, lunch, tea time, to evening bustle—highlighting the lively and sometimes chaotic bustle of these beloved local eateries. The team members become playful game characters, taking on waitress and chef roles, with our HP bars humorously depleting with each shift.
Hidden among the pixel art scenes are clever visual references to Cha Chaan Teng slang, like “pretty girl” as congee, or “handsome guy” as rice, inviting the audience to spot and decipher these local jargons. Behind the kitchen, a food factory processes these codes into funny, literal meanings.
By merging tradition and modern digital art, “Ho Lol Co.” presents Tai Kwun as a place not only for history, but for fun, nostalgia, and the spirit of Hong Kong’s everyday life.

Bloom
Kinetic Wearable

Exploring between wearables and nature.

This wearable artwork explores the concept of Symbiosis—imagining how the human form might coexist with an unfamiliar, growing organism. Conceived as a "second organ," the piece is not a passive external ornament but a living extension of the body that appears to gently parasitize the skin, moving and evolving in tandem with the wearer.

The structural language is heavily inspired by the abstract growth patterns of the Tillandsia (air plant). Just as the plant anchors itself with minimal contact to spiral and stretch freely, this work translates the tension between physical attachment and autonomous growth onto the human body. It sprouts from the wearer like a cluster of soft, living matter driven by its own quiet pulse.

Skywhisper Messenger is an interactive installation born from the belief that words of encouragement provide vital support during moments of frustration and confusion. Set in the virtual realm of “ShyWhisper City,” participants take on the role of pigeon messengers navigating a digital maze to deliver blessings to others. Upon completing the game, participants receive a physical card to author their own message. Whether offering hope to a stranger or extending grace to themselves, Skywhisper Messenger transforms a digital space into a continuous loop of shared empathy and collective support.

chaOtic reality
3D Animation

One of the concepts that Vanitas expresses is that everything is meaningless in the face of death. Yet, I want to convey a space that is both real and illusory after death. I’ve created a surreal environment and aim to create a space that appears consistent with reality, but upon further observation, it deviates from the real world—a chaotic space. Some objects in the scene are recognizable from daily life, while others are virtual. The bubbles in the scene represent fleeting time. On the dining table, you’ll find items commonly seen in daily life, such as jelly and candles. People in this space may not realize they are already deceased. The skull placed on a plate adds an eerie touch. It serves as a reminder that this isn’t reality. As the animation concludes, the skull on the plate begins to dissolve and melt, leaving one to wonder whether what they saw was an illusion or reality. The books on the table also start flipping pages until the animation ends, symbolizing the ending of life. Additionally, there are a few virtual flowers in the scene. Two of them grow around the table and chair, the growth of the “flowers” contrasting with the skull and book on the dining table. These flowers will not be found in everyday life; their growth at the end represents nirvana(涅槃).
